Spring Fall cleaning

For reasons unbeknownst to me, I decided to undertake in an immense cleaning operation. I’ve so far filled 3 rather large plastic bags full of items that are on their way out. Mostly old CDs and crap like that. It’s crazy how much stuff a person accumulates over a course of three years (that’s how long I’ve lived in my flat). I started yesterday as a matter of fact but got distracted after I came across Starship Troopers 2 on my Mac and for some peculiar reason decided to waste two hours of my life watching it. So I didn’t get much done yesterday, but since I have no plans today (or tomorrow), I’ll be getting this place shiny.

What I have noticed is how my bookcase seems to have shrunk. It used to have ample space for all my clutter, but now it’s just filled with books like ‘Java In A Nutshell’ and ‘Learning PHP & MySQL’ - yes, the cornerstones of everyone’s bookcase. I have tried balancing the load with some easy reading material — Liar’s Poker, Freakonomics and The Google Story — but I’ve yet to find the time to wade through them. Maybe soon.

I took my old CD racks down and moved them into the attic — I didn’t really like them and they were always kinda in the way. The only problem I have now is that I have around 250 CDs piled (neatly) on my dining table, waiting for a place to put them. I guess I should look into buying a bigger bookcase so I can fit all my stuff somewhere. Muurame have some nice pieces that I might consider.

I’m also still missing any kind of art on my walls, which needs to be corrected posthaste.

K2, Loves you like a kitten

After digging around in the ’series of tubes’ and coming up empty handed in my quest for the next WP theme, I’ve decided to switch back to the good ol’ K2. It’s quite easy to navigate, while being a relatively light theme. The customization options are a lot more extensive than in other themes and it actually works. I was looking for something a little more innovative and different but hey, why fix something if it ain’t broken, right?

I also installed a new Wordpress Auto Update Plugin that should take care of the hassle when a new release drops. The previous updates have had me tearing hair out of my head, since without exception things have always gone to tits up.

EDIT: I’m tweaking the theme to do just what I want it to do (width, little stuff like that), so if I break something, this is an apology in advance.
