24 hours in Kuala Lumpur

Since we’ve come this far East, Ville and I decided it would be a good idea to visit Malaysia as well. Since Kuala Lumpur is the closest city to Singapore worth visiting — Bangkok is way too inland — we went to visit the Petronas Towers. You can get to KL from Singapore by plane, by train, by bus and by taxi. By plane is the most expensive but then the other alternatives are pretty much the same. We took the train to Kuala Lumpur, in 1st class; how else? :)

Sentosa Island

Today was a beach day. Sentosa Island, which is a big island resort just off the Southern coast of Singapore. It’s a big tourist attraction in Singapore as well as being the best place to go and sunbath - the island has 2 kilometers of beach, which is a lot in Singapore. There are cable cars that leave for Sentosa over on the mainland, and as we decided to play ‘tourist’ for the day, we forked over a ridiculous $20 for a return ticket. It was worth it, as you could see all across the bay area as well as into the mainland.

The island is home to a 37 meter tall Merillion statue as well as an old WWII fort. We didn’t bother with the fort since we were going to the beach but did pass by the Merillion and take a few pictures. The beach was really cool and it didn’t take long for me to change my mind about taking a swim. It’s quite an experience to float about in the sea as hundreds of freighters are docked just a couple of hundred meters away by the nearby port, which is the world’s busiest by the way.

We took in some ‘rays for several hours before leaving by cable car and making our way back to the apartment. Today was mainly dedicated to just chilling and showing Olli & Kosti around town, as they’d arrived on Friday from Bangkok. We also had plans for the next day so we decided a few beers and a late night dinner would suffice for the evening’s activities.

Thank God It’s Friday

We’re at the apartment getting ready to leave for yet another night on the town. Last night was awesome; we went to the local Ministry Of Sound nightclub at around one o’clock and partied until about five in the morning. I’ve never been to such a cool club in my entire life.

Tonight we’re going to Zouk, a popular local club that plays the same sort of music as MoS. Should be cool.

I’ve moved my photos onto my Mac, so as soon as I have time I’ll upload them to my Flickr-account.
