Lego turned 50 yesterday. In my opinion, probably the coolest toy every to be concieved. I used to play with Lego night and day, and had a rather formidable collection of said bricks. In retrospect, it’s probably the only toy in th history of toys that never gets old — they’re always fun to play with. It’s also the only toy in the world that can accomodate an unlimited amount of ‘players’, as long as you have enough bricks. The modern Lego in my opinion have started to lose the point of the originals, in terms of having all these really wierd custom bricks and shapes. But thankfully the majority still keeps to tradition.

My parents probably still have my old Lego somewhere in the basement. I might just pop over some day, have a little rummage around and see if I can find them. Looking at Gizmodo’s collection of old Lego-sets really made me nostalgic. I had a shitload of them since Lego was predominantly the only thing I was really into when I was younger — this was years before the computer came and ruined my life :) I think it would be a good thing to make Lego mandatory for children.
