Synchronizing my life

I gave praise to Google Calendar some time ago for being the best way to keep a calendar up to date (for me at least). It seems a few of my friends use it too and have discovered its awesomeness. This brings me on to another dilemma — sort of.

A friend of mine asked me how to get Google Calendar to sync with his Mac’s iCal and with his Nokia. I don’t really use my N70’s calendar since for the most part it’s pretty crap. After a bit of surfing on ‘the tubes’, I found a fantastic app called “Spanning Sync“. It allows you to sync your Google Calendar with iCal. Previously you’d need to first change your Calendar to a ‘public’ one and then subscribe to its feed, synching it with iCal — all in all a rather tedious procedure. I’m in love with Spanning Sync since it’s so damn easy and has a very intuitive System Preferences options panel — fantastic! The only downside if you will, is that the software is Shareware, so after the 15-day trial you’ll need to pay for it.

Unfortunately for our fellow Windows-users this isn’t possible since Spanning Sync requires Mac OS X. And to be frank, I don’t really give a rat’s arse about how it works on a PC :)

Why I’m always late

Calendars are a real pain in the ass. Over the recent years, I’ve tried using an ‘analog’ paper calendar, a PDA, Entourage’s own built in calendar (Microsoft’s answer to Outlook on Macs), OS X’s own iCal and my phone’s built-in calendar. These have always worked great until a certain point;
