Steve Jobs’ kicked off Macworld San Francisco ‘08 today at 7 pm (Finnish Time, that’s 9 am in SF). I was looking forward to the Keynote as always, since usually Apple has a few new tricks up its sleeve at MWSF — and 2008 was no exception. The only thing ’spoiling’ the surprise of this year’s Macworld were several rather (in retrospect) accurate rumors/leaks about some of the soon-to-be-new Apple product. If you want to watch the Keynote for yourself, then I suggest you ignore everything I’m about to say and not read this post.

After I got my Macbook Pro, I decided to install Boot Camp so I count have the best of both worlds; there is some software that I use that works better on Windows. The only real hassle with Boot Camp is needing to restart my computer everytime I need to use Windows. And since that might be several times during one sitting, it’s a nuisance. This problem got solved when VMWare Fusion came out; it’s a virtual machine software that allows you to run another OS inside of your main OS. So in practice, that means running Windows inside of Mac OS X. And it’s the dog’s bollocks. Saves a huge amount of time and nerves.
Now sometimes I still need to boot my Mac into Windows since using Windows through VMWare Fusion doesn’t really let me use the graphics card to its full capabilities; and this mainly for playing games. So I decided to install my Command & Conquer: The First Decade collection onto Windows and play a little Red Alert. But alas! My keyboard that works perfectly with Fusion, doesn’t do shit when Windows in solely on. Wtf? The problem it seems has to do with the keyboard drivers that are in fact, missing. So I try and reinstall them from the CD I burned with Boot Camp Assistant but that just doesn’t do shit. So now I’m going to try and correct the situation by updating Boot Camp to 1.4b and burning another CD with the drivers and hope it install them this time.
Talk about annoying.
